Help encourage more women into tech careers
Sponsor ShadowTech Day 2023
TechWomen have been proudly delivering ShadowTech for several years across New Zealand. Our headline programme has always been ShadowTech Day. This programme provides girls in years 9 – 11 with an opportunity to experience what working in the tech sector is like, encouraging them onto education pathways that lead into tech sector roles. We have in recent years also adapted the programme to include targeted programmes such as ShadowTech Teachers.
The last time we ran ShadowTech Day was in 2019 when we had more than 400 girls and 90 industry mentors participate in the programme. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have not been in a position to run this programme for several years, but are delighted to announce we are bringing it back for 2023.
In order to make this amazing programme happen we need your help. We are seeking both government and corporate funding to allow us to execute on this significant organisational task.
You can help in any of the following ways:
- Have your organisation be a ShadowTech sponsor ($10,000 – $25,000 sponsorship)
- Be a ShadowTech supporter ($5,000 sponsorship)
- Introduce us to agencies, people or organisations who may have funding, grants or other financial options available
- Register your interest in being a mentor
- Register your interest in being a tertiary partner
Here’s what previous ShadowTech participants have had to say about the programme:
“A lot of energy is put into a day like this, from our team and the students. It comes back 10-fold. Events like this really resonate in our company values and contribute to our culture within our business. We were energised by seeing their reaction to the possibility of careers in tech.” Industry Mentor 2019
“I found that IT isn’t all about maths, coding and boring nerdy things. You can join even if you don’t have a degree.” Student 2019
