NZTech Inform – skills for today and tomorrow
Kia ora,
I’m starting my week in Auckland, meeting with Carrie Stoddart-Smith, the new Interim Executive Director of The Code. We’ll be reviewing the first reports submitted by the signatories.
Tomorrow Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin is in Auckland and I am fortunate to be able to spend time with members of her delegation including senior leaders from Nokia, Kone and ministers.
On Wednesday, I will be in Wellington for our regular meeting with the CEO’s of the Ministry of Education and the Tertiary Education Commission. We are reviewing progress of key tech initiatives in the education system. This includes the introduction of work integrated learning and apprenticeships.
Late this week a new national digital skills survey will be launched. Our last survey was in 2020, however this time the tech sector has a Government agency to help with workforce planning, Toi Mai. They will help drive responses and address issues raised from the survey data. Stand by for more information later in the week.
As we move into December, I conclude my week with a catch up with New Zealand Growth Capital Partners for insights into the investment ecosystem.
Ngā mihi
Graeme Muller
