NZ online learning platform receives honourable mention in IMS Global Awards
Lt, an innovative online learning platform created by Dunedin-based company ADInstruments, has received an honourable mention in the longstanding IMS Global Learning Impact Awards. These awards are administered by the IMS Global Learning Consortium, an international organization that seeks to identify effective edtech solutions by evaluating their impact. Lt is among one of 34 finalists globally.
This honour not only highlights how Lt can be used in blended learning environments, but also Lt’s use at the University of Auckland | Waipapa Taumata Rau. At the University of Auckland, Professional Teaching Fellows Anuj Bhargava and Angela Tsai have used Lt to teach medical science and microanatomy. Lt is the perfect lab solution for tertiary science courses due to its extensive content library, intuitive authoring features, inbuilt grading and analytics, and live data sampling via a range of integrated hardware. In a medical course lIke Anuj’s, students can use sensors to record physiological data (for example, an electromyogram of muscle) directly into the cloud-based Lt platform. Lt has eliminated the need for paper lab manuals, and physiology labs that were previously 3 hours long are now 2 hours of active engagement. Anuj says that he has been able to shift “from being a technician to being a teacher”.
Lt continues to build its profile as an effective platform for teaching and learning, having previously won the Online Learning Innovation Award in the 2022 EdTech Breakthrough Awards, and been a finalist or winner in three categories at the 2022 EdTech Awards from EdTech Digest. As an all-in-one lab solution, Lt is designed by local product teams to make science easier for both educators and students.
“We’re proud that Lt has been able to improve student access and provide an engaging experience in their science courses,” says Amy Bucher, Head of Education at ADInstruments. “We are continually expanding the content and features available in the platform so that educators can save time while still engaging students in active learning, and as a New Zealand company, we love that Lt can support educators and students so close to home.”
Lt is now used in the pharmacy and optometry departments at the University of Auckland, and Anuj’s teaching has been recognised with a national award. On a global scale, Lt is used by more than 100,000 students, in more than 250 institutions. Post-COVID, Lt is the ideal tool for in-person, online, and blended teaching. Educators are invited to preview Lt lessons or sign up for a 90-day free trial online. Find out more about Lt and the 90-day free trial at https://www.adinstruments.com/lt.
