AI Summit & Hackathon Series
Tēnā tātou katoa,
Last month I talked about the NZ-wide hackathon series we are running in the lead up to our AI Summit in Auckland on 12 September.
These hackathons are seeking to bring to life practical examples of some key recommendations from our AI for Environment Report published in May. And it’s not just for technologists, – we are looking for people with a passion to save the planet (all of it – including your backyard). There are still limited places, so see the events listed below and get involved.
We are very thankful to our fantastic collaborators including the TAIAO Project, University of Waikato and She Sharp, and our hosts: AUT (Female-led in Auckland), the AI Institute (Waikato), AWS (Wellington), Datacom (Auckland), Callaghan Institute (Christchurch) University of Otago (Dunedin). The top teams will be pitching at the AI Summit to be the overall winners.
We will also be welcoming Megan James from Dataminr and Dr Ren Wu from Novumind onto the AI Summit mainstage. In the hybrid event we have exciting additional webinars on how AI is being used to solve problems. Speakers include David Rajan, CEO of Opteran talking about how Natural Intelligence (AI 3.0) is making a step change in the world of robotics; and Dr Emilia Molimpakis discusses using AI to diagnose fatigue in astronauts and cosmonauts on the International Space Station.
It is a very full agenda packed with interesting interactive sessions. There will be key advice for bringing AI to life in your business, special round tables on advice for startups, invaluable stories to inspire and learn from, and a future focused look at what’s coming next. We’ll also be talking about what ethical AI means for New Zealand and all who live here.
Registration is open with discounts available for all members. Thanks to Dataminr, Google Cloud, NZ Stats, Servian, Spark & Qrious for being our key sponsors this year, along with Callaghan Innovation,Bridgewest Ventures,Arcanum AI & Lynker Analytics. There are still some limited sponsorship opportunities to promote your organisation to a national audience. Get in touch with Nikki to view our sponsorship prospectus.
We look forward to welcoming you all.
Ngā mihi mahana
