Webinar: What can New Zealand learn from FinTech developments in Asia Pacific and beyond?

The start of 2020 has had a significant impact on the way we live, work and manage our money. Global payments company, Visa, has been working alongside the FinTech sector globally and locally and will provide a view on how the sector has responded.

Visa’s Head of Digital Accounts & FinTech for Asia Pacific, Tasneen Padiath, will be joined by Anthony Jones, Visa’s Head of Innovation & Partnership for Australia NZ & South Pacific, and Todd Wackrow, Head of Growth for Zip NZ, will provide a perspective on what to think about as New Zealand FinTech launches into the new normal.

Anthony Jones – Head of Innovation & Partnerships Visa Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific

As Head of Innovation and Partnerships for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Anthony and his team focus on Visa’s new-to-market partnerships including neobanks and FinTechs, as well as the client co-creation process.

Anthony is responsible for leading Visa’s strategy on collaborative product design to deliver market-leading payment experiences for clients. As part of this, he works with Visa’s global team to develop the next wave of digital and data-driven payment capabilities.

Anthony has over 20 years of experience as a product and sales professional, beginning his career in London as a financial planner before founding his own mortgage broking business specialising in residential and commercial loans. Anthony moved to Australia in 2002 leading teams at GE Commercial and American Express before joining Visa in 2011.

Tasneen Padiath – Head of Digital Accounts & Fintech Asia Pacific

Tasneen leads Digital Accounts and FinTech Partnerships for Visa in Asia Pacific. She oversees partnerships with Visa’s largest global and regional digital partners, as well as the management of Fintech engagements and the Visa Fintech Fastrack Program.

Previous to this, Tasneen served as Managing Director for CEB (a Gartner company) in South East Asia and head of the CEB Singapore office. She was responsible for the business performance of the CEB Leadership Councils and SHL Talent Measurement business in the region and also led sales operations across Asia. Tasneen also worked at CEB in various capacities including as Head of Sales & Member Services for CEB Asia, Head of Product & Advisory Services for CEB Asia and as a lead Executive Advisor for CEB’s Sales & Marketing Practice in North America.

Tasneen started her career as a Brand Manager with Proctor & Gamble in Singapore, following which she helped set up the international business (Asia & Europe) for a start-up chemical company in the US. Tasneen holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad, India and BTech (Civil Engineering) from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, India.

Todd Wackrow, Head of Growth, Zip NZ

Todd has a diverse background across digital marketing, product development and tech start-ups and is currently the Head of Growth in New Zealand for Zip, an ASX listed FinTech. Todd founded his first start-up, a mobile voucher company POCKETvouchers, back in 2006 in a “pre-iPhone” world, and ran that business for 7 years working with major brands and retailers across Australasia. Since POCKETvouchers, Todd has worked across a number of roles in the digital agency and new ventures space and joined Kiwi FinTech PartPay in late 2019. PartPay’s “buy now, pay later” payments platform was utilised by the likes of The Warehouse Group, Spark and 1,000+ other New Zealand businesses, and through partnerships was also deployed into the US, UK and South Africa. PartPay was acquired by Zip in November 2019 and Todd is now leading the New Zealand operation’s marketing and product development as well as supporting the businesses entry into the UK.
