Online: Global Landscape for Agritech Investing

Arama Kukutai – Co-founder, Partner, Finistere Ventures

 Arama Kukutai is a co-founder and partner at Finistere Ventures, one of the pioneering venture firms dedicated to agritech, founded in 2006. Arama has been an investor, company founder and entrepreneur in the Agribusiness sector for over 20 years. He served as Executive Chairman of PKW Farms, a successful diversified investment entity involved in dairy farming and aquaculture activities in New Zealand, Asia and Australia. Arama also led the New Zealand government’s Trade & Investment agency in North America, following which he emigrated to the USA. He has led the creation of Finistere’s global portfolio and network in AgTech which includes offices in New Zealand, Tel Aviv, Israel, San Diego and Silicon Valley, and Dublin, Ireland. Mr. Kukutai serves on the boards as a Director or Observer of current portfolio companies including AgGenetics, Biolumic, CropX, Growers Edge Financial, Plenty, Taranis and ZeaKal as well as the Fresh Start and Sprout accelerators. He has been an active speaker, writer and thought leader in Agrifood sustainability and investment trends, including through Finistere’s partnership with PitchBook Data. Arama holds law and business/agronomy degrees from the Victoria University of Wellington (NZ).

Ingrid Fung – Investment Director, Finistere Ventures

Ingrid is an Investment Director with Finistere Ventures located in Toronto, Ontario. She has spent the last decade in agtech innovation and entrepreneurship holding roles in business development, strategic advisory, technology development, and venture capital.

Ingrid is actively involved with Finistere’s investments in EnkoChem, Hi Fidelity Genetics, Radicle Seed, and is a board observer for ZeaKal and Biolumic. Within the firm, her focus is on the application of life sciences technologies within agriculture and food. Additionally, Ingrid led the creation of Finistere’s annual AgTech Review and Future AgTech R&D initiatives.

Beyond her work with Finistere, Ingrid is passionate about public science communication, and diversity/inclusion in STEM fields. She is an advisor to several accelerators and sits on the executive advisory board for AgTech Next (Donald Danforth Plant Sciences Center’s new innovation event).
