Minister Shaw’s Insights into the Climate-Related Disclosures Bill

Climate change is one of the key factors driving responsible investing. Financial markets globally are playing a major part in shifting investment away from emission-intensive activities and towards a lower-emission economy.

New Zealand is leading the charge and is likely to be the first country in the world to make climate-related reporting compulsory for the financial sector.

Compliance to these increasing reporting requirements places additional pressure on the financial sector in New Zealand, however overall it will help investors, shareholders and companies to assess climate-related risks and opportunities and make more informed decisions.

Join us for an open conversation with Minister Shaw who will give his insights into the passing of this bill and answer questions on the challenges and opportunities in this space now and in the future.

Attendees can submit their questions for the Minister at registration or here, to be included for discussion during the session.

Recommended pre-reading for this event can be found here: New Zealand’s Climate Disclosure Bill status.

This is the first of two sessions taking place to discuss the Climate Disclosure Bill, the next is an in-person event being held in February in Auckland.
