HealthTech Activator workshop – Increasing the Value of your Healthtech Company

Our upcoming HealthTech Activator in-person workshop – Increasing the Value of your Healthtech Company – will provide participants with an overview of the relevant principles, concepts, and practical considerations for bolstering the value of their healthtech business.

This workshop will cover:

Identifying intangible assets, namely resources and capabilities, that can potentially create a value advantage
Discussing the various legal mechanisms to capture, protect, leverage and enforce intellectual property rights
Managing other factors specific to healthtech for maximising value and opportunities
This interactive workshop will be facilitated by Kate Wilson of KTPi Enterprises and Jai Basrur of CGB Consulting. It’s ideal for earlier-stage healthtech businesses seeking to develop strategies for leveraging their existing and future intangible assets to maximise value.

Cost: $50 incl. booking fee and GST. The booking fee portion of the cost will be donated to the Educational Equity for Māori and Pasifika Learners

About Kate Wilson

Kate is an internationally recognised IP strategist and patent attorney with real world business experience. She’s been designated an “Expert of Experts” in IP strategy by Managing IP magazine, and was the first New Zealander to feature in IAM Media’s list of world leading IP strategists.

Kate has an in-depth understanding of what businesses need to succeed. She built up her previous IP law firm James & Wells virtually from scratch, has held numerous Board appointments, built and run her own businesses outside of the world of IP, and advised and managed the IP portfolios of many of New Zealand’s iconic companies. Kate also has extensive local and global networks which she readily taps into to augment any professional service offerings. She is currently a director of two healthtech companies.

Kate holds degrees in physics and chemistry which, along with her deep immersion in the innovation space, have given her an understanding of a broad range of technologies. She currently works with KTPi Enterprises, an organisation which focuses on the needs of businesses by providing an understanding of the most valuable intangible assets that underpin their future successes. Overall, Kate cares about enabling businesses to maximise their potential and value – and has a track record of delivering.

Kate is also a highly experienced public speaker, called upon locally and internationally to speak about all matters IP related.

About Jai Basrur

Jai is the founding director of CGB Consulting, and has previously worked with – and advised – many corporate and government entities over the past 35 years. He’s held senior positions at Ernst & Young, Stern Stewart & Co and Horwath Porter Wigglesworth as well as advising at corporate board and senior leadership levels in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, India, South East Asia and the Middle East.

Jai has a wealth of knowledge, experience, and insights to share on valuations and capital raising across multiple sectors including medical software, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Jai has advised listed and unlisted entities on the valuation, structuring, and financial aspects of diverse intangible assets for strategic reasons, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, financial reporting, and commercial dispute resolution purposes.

Jai, a long-time NZTE Beachhead advisor, is also a regular presenter and lecturer at forums and business schools in Aotearoa and around the world. He has been a member of local and international panels advising on valuation standards and frameworks, and is also a member of a number of advisory boards where he advises on early stage and growth focused businesses. He is frequently engaged to provide independent financial expert advice on valuation and financial quantum issues in legal disputes.

Jai is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA, UK), Fellow of the Certified Practising Accountants (Australia), Member of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand Inc. (M Inst D), and Member of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand Inc. (CFIP). He also holds a BSc (Hons) Physics and an MBA (Finance), and has attended leadership programmes at leading business schools.
